Our aim is for your child to be happy, safe and secure and for their to leave nursery, a confident and happy child.
We hope to give your child a sound foundation for life.
Our rooms are run by qualified nursery practitioners who plan and prepare themes and activities for their room with the aim of stimulating your child’s all round development using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as a guide, our experienced and knowledgeable practitioners will ensure your child develops to their full potential.
The children’s meals are prepared each day by our qualified cook, and are planned with a varied diet, catering for vegetarians and any special dietary requirements your child may have.
We hold parents evenings for you to discuss your child’s progress with the staff, although staff are always willing to discuss your child’s progress at any time.
Full and Part time places
At Charlestown Day Nursery we offer full and part time places to suit your childcare needs in Tameside. Nursery opens from 7.30am until 6pm allowing parents to be flexible with the hours they need for childcare in Tameside, Ashton Under Lyne.
Online Learning Journals
Our online journals are accessed through Tapestry. You will receive access to your child's online journal which is updated each week with photos and development reports which involves you at every milestone your child reaches.
Healthy Home Cooked Meals
All our meals are cooked by our on-site cook Fiona. We offer cereal and toast for breakfast and hot healthy freshly cooked lunch. Tea is a healthy substantial snack to ensure our little leaners are energised till home time.
We boast a large outdoor play area with 5 separate gardens. Our children love to play outdoors so our extensive gardens ensure every child can play and learn outdoors in our well equipped and developmentally friendly play areas.
Government Funded Places
Free 15 hour 2 or 3 year old government Funded Places in our term time only rooms. We have all year round funded places enabling you to use funding towards all year round nursery provision. We are happy to help with funding applications and to discuss childcare needs.
At Charlestown Day Nursery we have two SEND coordinators who support our families and practitioners through all aspects of Special Educational Needs. We pride ourselves on identifying early signs of development delay ensuring early interventions are put in place to help children get the support they need to reach their full potential.
Early Years Foundation Stage is the curriculum used for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five years. Charlestown Day Nursery use EYFS to support learning and through observation and planning of next steps for individual children we ensure our children are given the best support to develop.
Our friendly approachable team are always happy to speak to you about any aspects about your child’s care and development. Each child has an allocated key person who is responsible for observations, planning and assessments for individual children in their key groups. Key persons build strong relationships with key groups and families.
Runs every school holiday expect for 1 week at Christmas for when the nursery is closed. Children have the opportunity to meet new friends in a fun relaxed environment. Our holiday club is housed in our large rainy day room. Exciting themes and activities are planned by our holiday club coordinator along with the children for indoors and out.
Before and After School Club
We take and pick up children from three local schools. Our school club children walk to and from school each day. We provide breakfast and tea and support the children with their homework, reading and they also have time to relax and play in our before and after school room and outdoor areas.
Week 17th January
Oral hygiene week
The children will be exploring tooth brushing this week. We have a resource from our local dental hygiene team for the children to use throughout the week with Shine the dragon.
Tuesday 1st February
Chinese New Year
year of the tiger- paint tiger pictures, talk about Chinese New Year, use story sack, taste foods, make room dragon.
Week 7th February
the children will be doing all things messy, indoors, and outdoors this week.
Monday 14th February
come dressed in red/pink/purple and make cards for loved ones. Stories about friends.

Week 28th February
The Hungry Caterpillar week
The children will be looking at the story of the Hungry Caterpillar and taking part in some lots of activities relating to the story.
Week 14th March
Our living Eggs
will be arriving this week; the children will be able to watch the Eggs hatch in the incubator and once hatched they can learn how to handle and care for the chicks. Once the Chicks have grown to be too big for nursery, they can be re-homed, if anyone has an allotment or lives on a farm and would like to adopt our chicks that would be great.
Thursday 17th March
St Patricks Day
Today the children can come dressed in green and will be making shamrocks, having a parade, and eating corn beef hash for lunch.
Week 21st March
The Natural world
Discovering natural materials and looking at our environment
Week 4th April
the children will be discovering the joys of Spring this week, planting seeds, exploring flowers, and having a spring colour party.
The children will be making Easter cards and treats this week and having an Easter party.
8th April 22
For 2 weeks
