From my first day at Charlestown, I felt welcomed by all the practitioners and children and I felt part of the team from that day forward. Della the nursery student coordinator went through policies and procedures and gave me a tour of the nursery and introduced me to all the team.
I started my placement at Charlestown day nursery in September 2021. I am studying level 3 in Childcare and Development. On my first placement day I was placed in the baby room with Clare and Emma, and I was able to gain experience in children’s development up to age 2, I was made to feel part of the team and got stuck in with all the activities provided for the development of the babies and there is a lot of messy activities in this baby room, but I loved every minute of it.
After completing my baby room hours, I moved to the toddler room working with children aged 2-3 years, again I was made to feel part of the team and was able to carry out planned activities developing children’s cognitive development, watch their friendships develop and use my time to gain lots of support and experience from the practitioners within the room.
I have really enjoyed my time at Charlestown day nursery, and I would recommend the nursery to any student needing a placement. Having attended Charlestown Day nursery myself as a young child it was lovely to meet some of the practitioners that cared for me and helped me develop into the person I am today.
